I'd been searching high and low for something similar to Viviana's MSGM floral midi skirt when I happened upon this little doppelganger in a local charity shop. I've been wearing it all summer with cropped tops and silver flats (a la Viviana) or my Louboutin Chelitas.
Zoe Karssen T-shirt (cut into cropped top - similar here)
Last weekend I debuted some recently acquired pieces: my new cropped sleeve leather jacket from Urban Outfitters, that ASOS split front skirt (blogged but never actually worn until now) and my Louboutin Bow Bows. And not forgetting my new Chanel mini flap! I've been lusting after this little guy for years and decided that 2013 was the year he'd be mine. What he lacks in size, he makes up for in personality (and besides, it's been rather liberating to minimise my daily luggage to just a phone, purse and lipstick). FYI I went for lambskin with silver hardware. The occasion was my cousin's wedding reception, hence the white skirt - which I figured was OK to wear since it wasn't the main ceremony. My Bow Bows are looking a little sad after being danced across fields and cobbles but it was totally worth it. In the first photo you can sort of see my new (pink) hair - it's faded now so having it re-coloured before I show you properly!
Sorry for the mini blogging hiatus - work is super busy (which is good news for a freelancer, but bad news for her poor neglected blog). Normal posting will resume shortly, but I simply had to post a snap of my new FAVOURITE Obey t-shirt, kindly sent to me by the lovely Urban Outfitters team. I have a growing collection of vintage and logo T-shirts, which I throw on with skinny/boyfriend jeans and Marant kicks when I can't be bothered to wade through my wardrobe. Obey launched at UO last week and you can shop this bad boy plus other gems here.
Red soles and a playsuit to match make me very happy, as evidenced in these photos. The tomato all-in-one is by Never Fully Dressed and is waiting patiently for summer to arrive in London so it can paint the town its zingy shade of red. It's JULY, people!
For me, little black boots don't get any better than these buckled-up Loubs. I've been stomping around in them daily (with bare legs and skirts, skinny jeans and biker jackets) and wincing every time I see them get a little bit wrinkled or scuffed. Pretty sure that's not what tough girls in steel toe caps are supposed to do.
I've been holed up in bed with the flu for the last few days but managed to paint my face, get out of my PJs and step into the outside world to take some photos of a few new things. Right after this, I was back in stretchy jersey and promptly removed all traces of makeup. UGH. Just hoping I'm better for my birthday on Monday. As you can see, my latest pair of pink trews are serving me well. I got this leather jacket the other day but haven't really had a chance to wear it, being bed-ridden an' all. I chose in a medium so it would be a bit baggier and long-line and pinned this vintage fur collar over it. Another new addition is this mint green shirt from Urban Outfitters, which is letting me channel the white collar worker within - which I don't do very often, being freelance and too often able to work in aforementioned stretchy jersey. Last but not least, my new beloved silver flats! These featured in a Shoesday post a while ago, and I couldn't resist.
I had the best weekend ever. My real birthday is next weekend but I celebrated with friends on Saturday with a night of karaoke. These photos were taken on Saturday during the daytime, spent running errands in the snow, drinking coffee and cosying up inside. Obsessed with this By Malene Birger cardigan - can't wait to wear it with my monochrome Proenza Schouler skirt and bare legs when (IF) the weather gets warmer.
My little office space and desk essentials including my new Talullah Tu crystal glasses (HOW cute are they??) and blingy iPhone cover from H&M. Last but not least, another recent purchase: my new Urban Outfitters rug, which has totally transformed my sitting room. What did you get up to this weekend?
If you can't wear a matching neon hat and scarf on a rainy weekend strolling along the docks, when can you? On a practical note, the hat and scarf came in useful when my boyfriend and I were waiting on the hard shoulder for the highway patrol this weekend, en route to Portsmouth. A lorry hit the car and spun us around one and a half times across the motorway. At one point I was FACING oncoming traffic. By some miracle, we ended up on the hard shoulder (and weren't hit while we were spinning as there was a random lull in traffic) and nearly us nor car were hurt, just very, very shaken. On the plus side, once we got to Portsmouth I got to bust out my mum's metallic party dress from the eighties, complete with shoulder pads, hair scrunchie (velvet, natch), and side pony for the eighties party we'd travelled for. Nothing like a strong, eighties-themed drink (Malibu and coke, if you must know) to calm one's nerves. (Next hat and scarf, Zara jumper, Urban Outfitters parka, Proenza Schouler PS1, vintage leather shorts, Aldo boots.)
This season was my first not covering all four main fashion weeks. And trust me, working four weeks without weekends plus night flights really puts a girl off the shows. I had planned to take a show hiatus but when ASOS asked me to be their LFW Access All Areas girl, I couldn't say no. Old friends + sleepy pugs + ~fierce~ shoes = a ruddy good London Fashion Week. Here's my diary... Above, here I am escorting Rufus and Heidi (who were the real VIPs) to the Mulberry show. I am wearing Zara trousers (similar here), Salvatore Ferragamo pumps, Céline t-shirt and Urban Outfitters parka. Jade/Sunday Girl and her toy poodle Brian, who I SWEAR was giving me evils. Look at his withering expression!
Always love the Mulberry show set. Gnomes EVERYWHERE. Sleepy pug in a parka!
I had the pleasure of bumping into my lovely friend Olivia TWICE. Extremely jeal' of her cobalt PS1. We had an Isabel moment. Oh hai Alison Mosshart and Poppy Delevigne. (And Jasmine Guinness, rudely cropped out...) I busted out my dungarees, natch. I got these bad boys from H&M but you can get similar here. Worn with Gap t-shirt, Isabel Marant jacket and Boston sneakers, Proenza Schouler PS1 and Hermes twilly. My hair envy knows no bounds. This chick DIY'd hers. Party time at the Shopbop apartment with Tennessee and Valentine.
Obligatory TTH photo. Obligatory lift photo. Atlanta de Cadenet is one cool girl. One of my favourite parts of LFW - hanging out in wonder woman Abi Marvel's AMAZING blogger apartment with Reem, Natalya, Zahra, Alex, Kate, Tala, Kris and Danielle. Five Five Fabulous's Reem and Natalya and their sick kicks. Girl crushing on Lauren Laverne. And lastly, my insanely gorgeous friend and super stylist Lexi, who has the most envy-inducing shoe collection I have ever witnessed. Isabel Marant's AW12 booties and then Chloé's Susanna boots for tired feet moments? I DIE.
