I recently left NET-A-PORTER's hallowed halls for the freelance life, to pursue my freelance writing and illustrating. First on my agenda? Office makeover! Seeing as I spend a lot of time working from my flat now, I wanted my desk to be somewhere I'd want to be. I put up some shelves (thanks Dad!), invested in an industrial-style lamp and voila! Here is the result.

My new colleague, Domo Kun plus a Fifi Lapin invitation in an Urban Outfitters frame.

I filled the space above my desk with a few of my favourite show invitations from my time at NET-A-PORTER. Great memories. The New York invitation is from the Donna Karan show on 9/11. Spot the Be@rbrick! I've started collecting them.

Essential reading: some fashion/illustration reference books plus a few NET-A-PORTER lookbooks I worked on. And not forgetting my go-to self-help book, If You Need to Cry, Go Outside. Thanks Kelly Cutrone.

I got the yellow taxi from a tacky gift shop on a work trip to New York. It was filled with fudge and I thought I could use it as a clutch.

Anyway, I am available for writing and illustration commissions! You can find me on

  1. Awww cute! Love the Mulberry glasses. So happy you've gone freelance, you're too talented to be confined to one place! xxx

  2. Hi Natalie,

It's good to have you back, I guess like me now, the blog took a backseat to the fashion job.

Now that you're a freelancer I hope to enjoy your regular posting and illustrations again!

  3. What a lovely, happy space! Wish you the very best in your new path! I love the fact that you have framed your show invitations :)

  4. Natalie I love your office! All of the whites make it calming and refreshing. When I was studying I always had to make my desk spotless before I could start writing essays! x

  5. I'm sure Netaporter was amazing but so happy for you that you took the plunge to go freelance. No doubt you will be hugely successful!

Your space is amazing. I love the eclectic mix of items and memories. A very inspirational space.

    xx Mandi

  6. you are so neat :) love your pink monster

  7. Love your little office space! I frame my favourite fashion week invites too (and have my giant golden Mulberry key propped up against the wall), and love that fabulously tacky NY taxi (you must definitely use it as a clutch when I see you one time, please)

Hope the freelance life is treating you well darling!!

    Briony xx
