ALL FILLER NO KILLER

I've spent most of the Bank Holiday weekend in the reclining position after a crazily busy week and only managed to raised myself up to a 45 degree angle to post this one picture. More to come when I'm back in work mode. So here's me and the beautiful Alice at the my-wardrobe Denim Pop-Up Shop launch party. I wore H&M velvet leggings, Zara clogs, ASOS shirt and Zara blazer. And in that bag is THE MOST PERFECT T-SHIRT IN THE WORLD. More on that later.

Oh and just to make this post a teeny tiny weeny bit more stimulating (who am I kidding?), some Formspring answers for your delight and delectation (reading my answers also makes an excellent alternative to counting sheep before bedtime):

Q: what do you want to be when you grow up?

A writer and/or one of those old ladies who spends a lot of time at the post office (why ARE there so many old ladies at the post office?!).

Q: Whats your favourite piece of clothing?

A: This ALWAYS changes but I guess my most prized possessions are my coats (since the UK tends to have one season give or take). My favourite is my camel Orla Kiely but I also love my pink boatneck, green wrap and red Aquascutum.

Q: How long did it take you to grow your hair? (It's in such nice condition!)

A: Thanks! And goodness, it's been long for several years now. Perhaps two years to grow out from a bob in the beginning. And thanks! Actually, and some would think crazily, I've always wanted roughed-up, coarse, straw-like hair.

Q: most lusted after item?

A: A bit of a cliche but my ultimate lust-have is an Hermes Birkin or Kelly.

Q: What Medium do you use for your illustration work?

A: I use black fine point Stabilo ink pens to draw the outline and then I usually add the colour using photo editing software or using watercolours/acrylics.

TIMES MONEY FEATURE

So I did a little dance and air punch when the gorgeous Laura from The Times (who used to be my editor at the Warwick boar - ahh, those were the days) asked me if I wanted to share my tips for discount shopping for a feature she was writing on creating an enviable wardrobe on the cheap. You may, like my friend T did, chortle at my giving money advice but in my defence... OK FINE, I have no defence. Whatever. Do as I SAY and not as I DO. Ummm...

Anyway, here are the pictures from the shoot, shot by the seriously lovely and uber talented Jas Lehal (it takes a special person to get me to look vaguely relaxed and stop doing the 'Chandler smile' in photos). You can see the feature in full here (it was published in Saturday's paper, but you mightn't have been able to get hold of a copy as I think collectively my mother and great aunt stockpiled most of them).

TOO HOT TO THINK

Drinking banana smoothies on my roof at the weekend. It was too hot to wear anything remotely stylish so I opted for my failsafe high-waisted denim shorts, a random pyjama vest top and some ancient flip flops. GlAmOrOuS.

A. English. Always. And I rather liked drama for a short while - I was a precocious child.

A. Jonathan Taylor Thomas. I had a poster of him on the back of my door (I wasn't allowed blu-tack on my walls) where he was wearing a leopard print shirt and leaning against a zebra print wall.

A. Yes, Lorraine.

A. 23

Q. how healthy are you?

A. I wish I could say very but sadly I enjoy Hummingbird Bakery cupcakes too much. I have a varied diet and don't tend to pig out on processed food or anything but I definitely eat what I want, pretty much. I'm also allergic to exercise, although I'd quite like to start a yoga class. Mañana, mañana...

CAPE JAPES

So my plan to dress solely in caramel tones a la Chloé AW10 has failed (I like black too much) but this is a step in the right direction...right? I love the light on the roof at 6am.

CLOGGED UP

Luckily for you, that blog title was simply a bad pun. Meet my new clogs, from - you guessed it - Zara. I wore them to the Net-a-Porter denim event today (more about that later) and they are insanely comfy.

BACK TO BLACK

Much as my extensive collection of colourful coats would suggest otherwise, I often end up dressing head-to-toe in black. Here I'm wearing an H&M t-shirt, Zara trousers, vintage belt, Chanel pumps and ASOS necklace.

The Raoul AW10 lookbook landed on my desk last week and I simply had to share it with you. LOOK at those capes. Just LOOK at them. And THAT camel coat. Tragically, the brand (based in Singapore) doesn't seem to have any stockists in the UK (please correct me if I'm wrong)**.

Eggshell blue and camel seems like a really fresh combination. Must. Recreate...

CHANEL LE VERNIS 527 NOUVELLE VAGUE

I'm a sucker for media hype when it comes to beauty products. Couple that with a fairly unhealthy obsession with Chanel (and a distinct lack of funds to spend on the main line) and you've got yourself a bulging make-up bag. Having already embraced Particuliere and spent £too much on a single sheet of Chanel temporary tattoos via eBay (pics to come if I can gather the courage to actually wear them), I was first on the Selfridges waiting list for the new SS10 nail colours. No, literally - I was number one on the waiting list. Erm...

Anyway, here are the fruits of my insane phone calls. Nouvelle Vague in all his turquoisey glory (yes, he's a he). I gave Riviera to my mother but she's lending it to me for a week so that's next up.

DEFLATED BEEHIVES AND OTHER STORIES

A couple of nights ago my friend Matt and I went to ogle Zooey Deschanel/see She & Him. They were awesome, Zooey is gorgeous, blah blah. I'm not a music journalist so I won't bore you with some kind of musical analysis. Instead, I will show you pictures of my deflated beehive during post-gig tea-drinking. I wore an H&M lace dress, Topshop frilly ankle socks and Topshop loafers. And I drew on a beauty spot.

LOOKBOOK LOVE

I'm not in the habit of posting a huge series of photos from one lookbook (I prefer to opt for the egotistical 'Look at ME ME ME ME' approach usually), but when I saw these images from the AW10 Opening Ceremony collection via Julia Frakes' lovely blog, I couldn't resist. GIMME.

In other news, I am super excited about going to see She & Him with my friend Matt (one of my oldest, dearest and most fashionable chums and co-founder of the awesome Barely Regal records) ce soir. My frilly ankle socks are getting a lot of wear lately (with washes in between, obv)...

A SINISTER HAPPENING

You'd think that sitting in Hong Kong airport (unless you particularly decided that you wanted to surf Canned Fashion) you'd be safe from seeing my smug little face staring back at you. Apparently not, as a poor friend learned when she innocently picked up a copy of Australian Grazia, flicked to the street style section and saw yours truly (along with the effortlessly beautiful and stylish Nadia from Frou Frouu). The moral of the story? YOU CAN'T GET AWAY FROM ME.
